Fracture opening width
Attributes:
1DBR [m] (for 1D fractures, 1K models),
2DBR [m] (for 2D fractures, 2K models)
In reality, fractures are rather uneven, which also has an effect on the flow. In the model, an idealised geometry and material properties of fractures are utilized.

Geometry and flow in a fracture
Simulations with 1D or 2D fractures require a fracture opening width (or aperture) to be defined for each fracture. This is used to calculate the available volume in each fracture. The fracture opening width b is of decisive importance when approximating the flow in the fracture using the cubic law, where the fracture permeability is assumed to be proportional to b²/12.
